Pets keep us grounded, a virtual necessity in an increasingly wired world. It’s our job to keep them safe from all the gadgets that connect us.
Petplan—a UK-based pet insurance company—recently surveyed 3,000 pet guardians and found that their electronics pose a serious risk to their furry friends. The following devices injured their pets: iPods (15 %); laptops, remote controls, and plasma TVs (10.8%); Wii and DVD players (10%); Playstations (8.3%); and Nintendo DS, mobile phones, and karaoke machines (5.8%).
Take a moment to evaluate your electronics situation. Do you have exposed cords your pet could easily get tangled in? Do you leave your gadgets lying around where your pet could get at it? The best way to minimize injury—and avoid filing pet insurance claims—is to take basic precautionary measures.
